New Opportunities for Family Engagement

In the spirit of unlocking the full potential of our platform for virtual learning, CanopyEd also partners with schools and districts to create courses for families.

Virtual courses offer districts a new and effective way to engage with families. Physically showing up at a school at a specific time can often be a tremendous burden on families. Once parents do arrive, they may still have trouble decoding the various resources and information they are given and they have no easy way to revisit what was presented. Virtual courses offer parents a significantly easier way to engage with the information districts would like them to know. The courses can be accessed on-demand and revisited as often as the parent or guardian likes. Courses can also be designed to include short quizzes or survey questions so that districts can use data to inform future strategies.

To create these courses, CanopyEd partners with local administrators and parent coordinators to identify local priorities and then translates these priorities into virtual courses. Once the courses are created, they are hosted on the CanopyEd platform and can be accessed by any parent at any time.

Potential topics include:

  • Pre-K enrollment

  • Diploma Pathways

  • School and/or district engagement opportunities and expectations

  • Advice on how to provide homework help with Common Core math

  • How to navigate systems for Spanish speaking families

  • etc…
